The Community Education Hub from Feed the Mass
For empowering culinary exploration, serving our most vulnerable neighbors, and holistically educating each person who walks through our doors with the skills and knowledge that are proven to support healthy living.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Portland's First Comprehensive Community Education Hub
After nine years of trusted community service, Feed the Mass is creating a transformative 7,000 square foot educational space in Old Town Chinatown - a hub where cooking skills, nutrition knowledge, entrepreneurship training, and community connections flourish together.
OUR VISION
The Feed the Mass Community Education Hub will serve as Portland's premier destination for accessible food education, youth entrepreneurship training, and community empowerment programming. This flexible space will host:
- Hands-on cooking classes (up to 30 participants)
- Nutrition education workshops
- Youth entrepreneurship mentorship programs
- Community workshops and events (up to 50 participants)
- Partner organization programming
- Workforce development training
Why This Matters
For Our Community:
When individuals gain cooking skills and nutrition knowledge, they make better food choices, reduce healthcare costs, and build stronger family connections. Our entrepreneurship programs create pathways to economic stability.
For Downtown Portland:
Bringing 30-40 participants multiple times per week to Old Town Chinatown generates consistent foot traffic that benefits local businesses and demonstrates community commitment to downtown revitalization.
For Partner Organizations:
The Hub provides affordable, professional venue space for nonprofits, educational institutions, and community groups to expand their programming reach while reducing facility costs.
